I am so excited to share with you this wonderful success story from our very own Unicorn Children’s Foundation family, Victoria and her mom, Jennifer!

Victoria came to Unicorn in 2020 during the first months of the pandemic. Despite the challenging and unprecedented circumstances, we held fast to our mission of creating “Cradle-to-Career” pathways for children and young adults with developmental differences: www.unicornchildrensfoundation.org

To accommodate the evolving needs of Victoria and others, we promptly launched a series of online programming in lieu of in-person lessons.

Victoria registered for our sustainable fashion class and very quickly became a rising star through her deep interest, innate talent, and committed follow through. Victoria’s journey is one that eventually led her through our retail fundamentals class and, ultimately, to our photography class—where she found her true love. Photography has become Victoria’s passion, and she credits Unicorn Children’s Foundation and our photography instructor, Ms. Samia, for cultivating that passion. Victoria landed an opportunity to work in the fashion industry as an intern, managing the photographic process of models before, during, and after the fashion shows, and identifying the best photos which she edits. Jennifer, her mom, has championed her success from the start, and epitomizes the type of whole family success we at Unicorn Children’s Foundation strive for every day! Victoria has a goal of working for Vogue magazine and Houston Astros baseball, and we believe she will achieve it.

Every year we provide educational programs for 150 participants and offer extended support for other family members like Jennifer who are navigating their own complex journeys.

Donations such as YOURS are what keep us going.

YOU are providing these opportunities through your generosity, kindness, and vision!

This Back-to-School season we are hoping to raise $25,000 to ensure that we can continue to offer programming such as the classes that catalyzed Victoria’s vision.

We are working on expanding our Career & Entrepreneurship Program. We also provide training to earn industry-standard certifications in high-demand job sectors. In addition, our organization educates businesses on the advantages of hiring people with developmental differences and how they can help set the stage for a successful match, as well as offers Family Navigation programs. Our family navigation programs are designed to strengthen and empower families through support, connection, and education to facilitate their success at every stage of life. Research has demonstrated that early identification and intervention, as well as high expectations, are the best strategies for future success. These programs are built around enhancing the social determinants of health, including education, health/ healthcare access, and social & community context. We appreciate any amount you can contribute. Your donation will provide the opportunity for kids and young adults who are atypical to follow their dreams and become self-sufficient in this trying world.

Victoria and I want to personally thank you for your support and make myself available for any questions you may have. None of this is possible without your support.
