Unicorn Children’s Foundation is focused on its mission to build communities of acceptance, support and opportunity for children and young adults challenged by special needs and neurodiversity. We are not a political organization and do not condone hatred or bullying on any level as our kids have dealt with the pain of being called different on a very personal level. Due to the political turbulence associated with this choice of venue it would be a disservice to our supporters and our children to hold our event at Mar-a-Lago. We prefer the conversations to be centered on our mission rather than the venue. Therefore,
we have decided that it is in the best interest of the organization and the families we support to cancel our fashion show luncheon at Mar-a-Lago. Our hope is that this decision will shift the conversation back to our mission, special needs priorities and the people we serve.
As with most charities, donations are the lifeline of the industry and many of the donations received are associated with special events. Mar-a-Lago is one of the few exclusive venues in Palm Beach County that enables charities to charge premium ticket prices and draw supporters with significant philanthropic capabilities. With that said, we do not see a viable alternative venue and are
now facing a devastating $160,000 budget shortfall that would have supported programs and services that help kids with special needs excel in their communities. We are now reaching out to this national audience to consider donating to our #GetCaughtBeingKind campaign to assure that we do not have to cut funding support for several necessary and critical initiatives.
Please spread the word about this campaign and share this campaign link with other sympathetic supporters! Political turbulence should not disrupt our ability to help our most vulnerable children and families.
#GetCaughtBeingKind and make a donation today!
Thank you so much,
The Unicorn Children’s Foundation
