We are so saddened to hear about the passing of Jay Van Vechten. Our community has lost a beautiful ray of sunshine and compassion, not to mention some much needed humor! Our sincerest condolences go out to his wife Lowell, his son Nick, and grandson Alex. Jay was an amazing human with a huge heart, who understood the challenges and opportunities that face the disability community. His efforts were recognized at our Community Inclusion Awards as the winner of the 2018 Direct Service Professional of the Year. We were proud sponsors and participants of the Boating & Beach Bash. To ensure that Jay’s vision of uniting and creating an inclusive community will continue, we have established a memorial fund to raise additional dollars of support for the American Disabilities Foundation, Inc. that produced the Boating & Beach Bash. We were honored to not only have had his support of Unicorn Children’s Foundation, but also to have called him a friend. Should you wish to leave a tax-deductible restricted gift in his memory, an acknowledgement card will be sent to his lovely wife Lowell informing her of your generosity and funds will be distributed by the end of the calendar year.

In Support of Unicorn Children's Foundation

Unicorn Children's Foundation is a 28 year old non-profit organization that is dedicated to building communities of acceptance, support, and opportunity for kids and young adults who are challenged by developmental differences by supporting or developing its cradle to career pathways.  Our initiatives connect families to community resources, advocate for inclusive opportunities, respect differences, empower individuals, and support success.  With 1 in 6 children being diagnosed with a developmental or learning disorder, we believe it is our responsibility to create a world where all children’s potential can flourish.  To learn more about the Unicorn Children's Foundation visit http://www.unicornchildrensfoundation.org.
